As we saw in the NCAA Tournament, the Tennessee Volunteers Men’s basketball program is on the cusp of something great. They were a mere seconds away from the Elite 8. But, there are heavy rumors lately that head coach Cuonzo Martin may indeed become the next head coach of the Marquette Golden Eagles, leaving this thriving program without a leader.
So, in which direction would they turn? Well, with the success they tasted this season, and knowing how far they can go with building this program, there’s only one man they can turn to.
The mere definition of a program-builder the last two years, Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall, as ESPN’s Jeff Goodman immediately pointed out on Monday.

This would be the smartest move they could possibly make, it would just all come down to whether or not Marshall wants to leave the Shockers after all he’s put in. And if he does want to leave, is Tennessee the right fit.
There’s a lot to chew on with this theory, but it certainly makes sense given all the circumstances involved.
