There have been rumors for quite some time that unreleased work from Michael Jackson could eventually make it’s way to an album, and now five years after his death it is finally going to happen.
According to the Epic Records website, a new Michael Jackson album titled, “XSCAPE,” is set to be released on May 13.
“Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds,” John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson, said in the release. “He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”
“XSCAPE” will feature a number of notable producers including McClain, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, and Stargate. The album will feature eight new tracks.
It will be interesting to hear the direction Reid went with the project, but if it contains the true essence of Michael Jackson in the music then there will be some feel-good tunes.
More information on the album is available on the Epic Records website.
