We are in the heat of transfer season in college basketball, and it appears that SMU head coach Larry Brown has acquired a big-time asset that could be available right away.
Jordan Tolbert is transferring from Texas Tech to SMU, per a source. Averaged 10 & 6 a game last year and may be able to play right away.

Evan Daniels of Scout.com reports that current Texas Tech forward Jordan Tolbert is heading to SMU, and while it isn’t known if Tolbert will be able to secure a waiver in order to be eligible immediately, it is apparently a possibility. Last season as a junior in Lubbock, Tolbert averaged more than 10 points per game, and at 6-foot-7, he would be an upgrade over some of the returning talent for Larry Brown and company.
Playing right away is always at the top of the discussion for Division 1 transfers, and that is the headline here. If Tolbert can play in 2014-2015, he becomes one of the biggest storylines in the country with regard to transfers, and after a “snub” in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, SMU could be in line for another step up in production level next season. Stay tuned for any official announcements as they arrive.
