With the Michigan State Spartans basketball season now over with the loss to the UConn Huskies in the East Region final of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, the brunt of the attention has now turned to whether or not sophomore guard Gary Harris will head off to the NBA or not.
As usual with decisions like these, the player will consult in length with his head coach, and Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo recently told reporters that he will advise Harris to leave the school, if he feels it would be his best option.
Izzo told reporters on Tuesday if his research leads him to believe Harris would be among the top guards selected in June, he would lean toward telling the sophomore to go pro.
Harris was amazing for the Spartans this season in their run toward the Elite 8, averaging 16.7 points per game and holding things together while Keith Appling and Adreian Payne battled injuries.
There is a little bit of a shortage in solid guards in this potential NBA Draft field, so using Izzo’s logic, he may be thanking Harris for his time in East Lansing and sending him off to make a paycheck.
