Tuesday night, the New York Yankees began their season as they took to the field to face off with the Houston Astros on the road. This marks the official beginning of the final regular season that Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will ever play, as he’s set to retire after the season.
But, things didn’t quite get off to the start that Jeter would have hoped.
In the first inning when Jeter came up to bat, he was hit by the pitch as he tried his best to get out of the way; a scene we’ve seen many times throughout his illustrious career.
Not the way he wanted to start the retirement tour.
