The Texas Rangers resemble more of a MASH unit than a baseball team right now, though they did receive some good news in regards to ace Yu Darvish.
The pitcher was forced to miss his Opening Day start thanks to neck soreness that forced the Rangers to place him on the 15-day disabled list.
Thankfully though it appears Darvish is healing quickly as this weekend he threw successive small bullpen sessions and increased his bullpen session on Tuesday without incident.
No decision has been made on Yu Darvish. Threw 86 pitches in bullpen.
Although Darvish didn’t report any pain, it’s still within the best interest of the Rangers to make sure they don’t rush his return. Neck injuries have been known to reoccur if not completely healed, so the Rangers understandably need to be cautious.
Thanks to being retroactively placed on the disabled list, Darvish is available to pitch this weekend though the Rangers have still yet to make a decision on that.
For now it’s simply a matter of health for Darvish, who seems to be doing rather well.
