NCAA Women's Final Four 2014: Geno Auriemma reacts to Natalie Achonwa injury

The undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish suffered a tremendous setback in their quest for an undefeated season and national championship as they learned top scorer Natalie Achonwa would be out for the Final Four with a torn ACL, less than 24 hours after they battled their way into the field.

Throughout this whole tournament, and even before, many people saw Notre Dame as being the only squad that could challenge Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies for the title. Now, those prospects have taken a serious hit.

Still, on Tuesday, Auriemma was gracious enough to offer up his thoughts on the matter.

Everyone has been looking forward to the impending showdown between the Irish and the Huskies in the title game, and while it’s still a very real possibility, it won’t be the same without Achonwa on the floor for Notre Dame.
