There is no denying that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been adding some pretty big name talent and characters to the back half of their season. Things seem to be kicking into high gear as Agent Phil Coulson and the rest of his team are hot on the heels of the Clairvoyant. Most recently, the series has added Patton Oswalt as Agent Eric Koenig and Amy Acker as Coulson’s cellist love interest. Now, they have added a new piece to the puzzle. Thanks to Marvel, we now know that The Black Donnellys actor Patrick Brennan has been brought on to play Marcus Daniels, otherwise known as Blackout.
As I mentioned before, it was announced last week that Amy Acker would be guest starring in the show as the love interest that Coulson was forced to leave behind after his “death” during the Battle of New York in The Avengers. In her character description, it was mentioned that a super-powered threat from her past would re-emerge. Well, it just so happens that Blackout is that menace.
According to the report, Daniels will make his first appearance in the episode named “Providence,” which is dated for April 15th. His role will then expand in the episode that follows.
There will be a slight difference from the comics version of Blackout, though. In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blackout will not have his normal powers of “darkforce” manipulation. Instead, he will be able to suck he energy out of anything around him. Somehow I have a feeling that the scenery is about to look a lot like a creepy horror movie.
It will certainly be interesting to see how all of these new characters play into the grand scheme of things. The situation is definitely going to heat up as they continue to pursue the Clairvoyant, and things will definitely get deeper for Coulson after the reappearance of Audrey.
Do you want to know how everything plays out? Then you’ll have to watch tonight’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to find out.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
