Metamoris 3 went down this past weekend headlined by an epic rematch between Royler Gracie and Eddie Bravo. While a whole stream of stories have come out after the event laced with controversy, the event overall was a huge success for Brazilian jiu-jitsu enthusiasts.
After a back and forth twenty minute battle, Eddie Bravo and Royler Gracie ended up in a draw. The reason the bout was a draw was because it was a submission only match, meaning that no points were awarded to either person. During the match, Bravo had multiple submission attempts, including a very deep ankle lock he calls ‘The Vaporizer’. Incredibly, Royler refused to tap to the joint manipulation, even though Bravo was quoted as saying he heard Royler’s leg ‘pop’ more than a few times.
While most of the focus was on the main event, there were still a bunch of other fantastic grappling matches for the fans to see. Gui Mendes was able to submit Samir Chantre with a baseball choke, Keenan Cornelius submitted late replacement Kevin Casey by inverted heel hook, and Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral fought to a draw with Dean Lister.
