The San Francisco Giants were hopeful that Tim Lincecum would be able to take his place on the mound Thursday against the Arizona Diamondback after he was hit in the leg by a comebacker in his final Spring Training start.
Thankfully Lincecum’s knee seems to be recovering well, but his stomach, not so much. According to Kate Scott, Lincecum has come down with a nasty case of food poisoning and spent the vast majority of Tuesday night throwing up.
Lincecum wasn’t exactly sharp this Spring and the fact that he’s throwing in a bandbox against the offensively charged Arizona Diamondbacks, that doens’t look overly promising for the Giants – even when Lincecum is healthy.
If Lincecum is unable to pitch (or the Giants simply want to give him a bit more rest), Ryan Vogelsong would move up in the rotation while Lincecum would likely be pushed back to Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
