Fielding punts is one of the hardest tasks to pull off successfully in the game of football. You have to concentrate on the ball as it’s moving in the air, while at the same time trying to keep tabs on the 11 guys coming down the field to take your head off. Oh yeah, and then there’s the part where, taking these two things into account, you have to actually catch the ball.
Well, during spring drills, new Penn State Nittany Lions coach James Franklin decided to have a little fun with this exercise as he wanted to see how well some of his linemen, as well as staff members, could handle the job.
And it turned out exactly like you thought it would: Hilarious.
Yeah, that ended up pretty much the way you think it would when you first hear about it, but it’s a great way to have some fun during the rigors that is spring practice in college football.
What would have been even better, though, would be if Franklin himself took a couple stabs at it.
