Khalil Mack is sitting at the top of a lot of people’s draft boards heading into the event next month, and that includes the Cleveland Browns who sit with the fourth overall pick, now being run by new head coach, the defensive-minded Mike Pettine. Because of this, there is a possibility that Pettine could covet Mack for his defense.
If his recent comments to Buffalo news are any indication, and the comparison he made to one of the best defensive ends in the game and a former top overall pick, Mack in Cleveland could come to fruition.
“When you have a guy that’s a special player like that, not that he’s played the same position as Mario, but what we did with Mario in Buffalo, he didn’t line as up as the left defensive end all the time,” Pettine said, according to buffalo news.com. “He was on the left. He was on the right. He was standing up. He was inside as the three. He was on the nose sometimes. We actually stood him up a couple times.”
While they don’t play the same position, Pettine has a point in regards to their similarities in how they approach the game with their versatility.
