Yesterday, FanSided reported that longtime MMA veteran and TUF 18 alum, Shayna Baszler, was injured and forced out of her April 16th bout against former StrikeForce champion, Sarah Kaufman.
When the UFC released the news on Twitter, they asked for any Women’s Bantamweights to step up:

Amanda Nunes got the message, and she will step in on short notice against Kaufman at the TUF Nations Finale in just under two weeks. Nunes was originally set to fight three days later at UFC on FOX 11 against Alexis Dufresne, but Kaufman is obviously the bigger match up.
Nunes has been on a tear in the UFC since signing with the organization in 2013. In her Octagon debut at UFC 163, Nunes ran threw Sheila Gaff in just over two minutes. In her last fight, Nunes once again won via TKO, this time over Germaine de Randamie in just under four minutes.
Taking this fight on short notice is a risk for Nunes, but the rewards can possibly be plentiful. If Nunes is able to defeat Kaufman, it would be a huge feather in her cap and skyrocket her up the UFC rankings.
