After a bit of a lengthy search, the Boston College Eagles have reportedly found a new head basketball coach in the form of Ohio University head coach Jim Christian.
Boston College has agreed in principle to a deal with Ohio University’s Jim Christian, multiple sources told ESPN.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reports (now confirmed by other outlets) that Christian will be tapped as the new head man on Chestnut Hill, and while he isn’t a huge name by any means, this looks like a solid hire for BC. Christian is coming off of back to back seasons with 24 and 25 wins (in that order) at Ohio, and that type of success in the MAC could translate nicely to the ACC.
Boston College is one of the sleeping giants in college basketball, but they have fallen quite severely in recent seasons. The Eagles went just 8-24 under Steve Donahue in 2013-2014, and since he won 21 games in his first season back in 2010-11, Boston College hasn’t sniffed the NCAA Tournament or even put together a record above the .500 mark.
Jim Christian will have his work cut out for him in his new gig, but just because you don’t know his name (yet), doesn’t mean he can’t succeed.
