The Chicago Cubs are an easy target for critics, what with their not winning a World Series since 1908 and all, but at least during this century of ineptitude for the “Loveable Losers” the members of the team did manage to all wear the same uniforms.

That was not the case this afternoon when the Cubs took the field for their series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates with leftfielder Junior Lake wearing the wrong road jersey.

Lake changed his jersey after the first inning, but not before embarrassing himself a bit in the process. Former Cubs manager Lou Piniella would call Lake’s wardrobe malfunction as a “Cubbie occurrence” while countless baseball fans are just left to wonder if this team can do anything right this season.

The Cubs are 0-2 on the young season after being shutout in their season opener in 10 innings after giving up a walkoff home run to Neil Walker and lost a 16-inning affair Wednesday night in a game they gave away.
