I’ve heard of a lot of strange injuries and illnesses causing Major League Baseball players to miss action.

I mean, we’ve had players bitten by dogs, we’ve had players stab themselves attempting to separate frozen hamburger patties (looking at you, Jeremy Affeldt), we’ve had players give themselves nasty burns from falling asleep in a tanning bed.

But to be ruled out because you have ‘fly’ symptoms? That’s a new one.

Of course, it’s nothing more than a relatively hilarious typo on the part of MLB.com, who announced Washington Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmermann would miss his scheduled afternoon start due to the ‘fly’ symptoms.

Zimmermann of course had flu-like symptoms, which oddly enough, actually might be better than fly-like symptoms.

I’m not exactly sure what that entails, though, I don’t think I want to find out either.

On the plus side, he’d certainly have a good eye on the pitching zone if he did have ‘fly’ like symptoms.

For now, expects Jordan to be back in the mound in the coming days – soon as becomes human again.
