Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham arrested

The Minnesota Timberwolves woke up to some rather unfortunate news on Thursday morning as they learned forward Dante Cunningham was arrested on allegations of domestic assault.

Police say Cunningham was booked into Hennepin County Jail on Thursday morning. Charges have not been filed, but Cunningham is being held without bail. Police say the woman making the allegations did not require medical treatment.

What exactly happened is not currently known, though Cunningham will not travel with the team as they embark on a road trip to Florida where they’ll take on the Miami Heat on Thursday evening.

The Timberwolves released the following statement:

“We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon. The Minnesota Timberwolves takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”

The fifth year player out of Villanova has played well for the Timberwolves this season, posting 6 points and 4 rebounds per contest in 19 minutes per game.
