The Boston Celtics are still a handful of years away from completing their re-build and by that time, power forward Kris Humphries will be at the end of his NBA road.

A free agent to be, one would likely assume the former Mr. Kardashian is playing out his final few games with the Celtics, but that might be a premature thought.

According to Boston.com, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has spoken to Humphries about returning next season.

"Ainge also revealed Thursday that he had talked to forward Kris Humphries about the possibility of coming back next season. Humphries, who is making $12 million this year, will be a free agent after the season.“I have had a few conversations with Kris,” said Ainge. “Because he’s been with us all year, he was with us in the summer and all this year. Kris sort of knows where we are as an organization and he knows we like him. And he knows there is a lot of uncertainty, depending on which direction we choose to go this summer. None of us now."

The last time Humphries entered free agency, he struggled to find a contract he felt he was deserving of (though did eventually get it). He may find those same struggles this go-around, so his return to the Celtics – despite an apparent interest – seems questionable at the moment.
