The Cincinnati Bengals were the first team that Danieal Manning visited after he was released by the Houston Texans and they appear to be the team with whom he’ll play the 2014 NFL season.

According to Ian Rapoport, Manning is in the final stages of finalizing a deal to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals.

"The #Bengals are finalizing a one-year deal with safety Danieal Manning, source said. Back with former #Texans DBs coach Vance Joseph"

It’s possible the familiarity of former coach Vance Joseph played a role in the signing or it’s possible Manning simply liked the Bengals franchise and/or the role he’d be given on the team.

Earlier Thursday, reports leaked that the Indianapolis Colts – who have a void at safety – weren’t currently interest in Manning, so that was another potential suitor off his list.

Rapoport suggested that the Dallas Cowboys may have had interest in Manning, though that was nothing more than speculation – not confirmed reports. The Kansas City Chiefs were another team to show interest in Manning but it appears the Bengals had the best selling line.

Contractual terms have not been released.
