The Chicago Bears will be without safety Chris Conte for the next four to five months, this according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago.

"#Bears safety Chris Conte out 4-5 months after shoulder surgery, team announces."

While losing a player to injury is never positive news, it’s certainly not hitting hard with a lot of Bears fans who’ve grown quite a disdain for Conte who has struggled in recent years.

It’s not known when Conte will be ‘ready’, per say, but rumors have began circulating that the Bears could very well place Conte on the PUP list despite being supposedly ready around the mid-portion of Bears training camp.

In the final year of his rookie contract, Conte will certainly be in the mood to get back on the field but given his poor play and the fact the Bears may opt to move on from him at season end, he might be returning to a bench role.

It’s not known how the Bears plan to attack his absence if he is forced to miss regular season games.
