Detroit Red Wings superstar Pavel Datsyuk is set to return to the lineup on Friday when his team takes on the Buffalo Sabres.
Datsyuk revealed the news himself on Twitter.
Looking forward to a game on Friday! I am in…
— Pavel Datsyuk (@Datsyuk13) April 3, 2014
Datsyuk has been out of the Detroit lineup since February 27 after re-aggravating a knee injury that has plagued him all season long. It even forced him to miss 14 games earlier in the season as well.
The 35-year old’s return to the lineup is nothing but good news for a Red Wings team that is seemingly getting healthy at just the right time. Detroit is in a multi-team battle for the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, and Datsyuk’s return will only help the team reach the postseason for the 23rd consecutive season. The Red Wings currently sit in the first wild card spot — three points in front of Columbus — with just six games remaining.
Now, if only this team could get it’s captain Henrik Zetterberg back on the ice.
