Rangers’ Derek Holland says he’s definitely ahead of schedule in rehab

The Texas Rangers pitching rotation is dealing with injuries, one of those is Derek Holland. He had a bullpen session and had some good news for Rangers fans saying things went well.

“It went spectacular. It was awesome. I did really good,” Holland said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Everything was really well. … I used my legs well, so it wasn’t like I was trying to throw with all upper body. I did the whole drop and drive and used my legs.”

Holland also said that he is ahead of schedule, but won’t be able to return till June 1st.

“I’m definitely ahead of schedule. A lot of people were shocked to see how far and how well I’m coming along and how fast I’m going along. They’re very pleased with everything. I’m going to Arizona tomorrow and I’m going to start throwing more bullpens and facing hitters. … Hopefully, if everything stays on track I’ll be doing some rehab assignments at the beginning of May.”

“We still have to wait until at least the typical 60-day DL expires which I think is May 30. And after that I’m free to come off. Like I’ve been calling the whole time, I’m expecting to hopefully to see myself in a Rangers uniform June 1.”
