April has gotten off to a tough start for many Streak for the Cash entries as some seamingly strong picks have crashed into red and even the Streakmaster himself has struggled starting 1-8 according to the ESPNStreak twitter account.  Hopefully, we can all get things in gear today with another jam-packed day of picks as we hit the middle of this opening week of April.  There are picks all day from Major League Baseball with some early morning cricket and afternoon soccer mixed in.  Tonight, the NIT Finals, the NHL, and a couple featured NBA games join the baseball to complete our ___-pick board.  Here are my picks for the day with a quick reason why I picked that way and my confidence on a scale of 1-10.

4/3 Streak Picks

9:00- West Indies: The West Indies are slight underdogs to Sri Lanka, but they were dominant in their win over Pakistan and can put up runs in a hurry, so I’ll take them to get the W. Confidence-3

Apr 1, 2014; Miami, FL, USA; Miami Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich (left) right fielder Giancarlo Stanton (center) and right fielder Marcell Ozuna (right) celebrate their 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies at Marlins Ballpark. Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

12:40- Miami Marlins: Jacob Turner looks to close out the Marlins opening series against the Rockies with a win.  Colorado’s offense has been struggling while the Fish have had success against Colorado’s injury-depleted rotation. Confidence-4

1:10- Eugenie Bouchard: Despite Venus Williams being much more well known, Bouchard is -140 to win this match.  Make sure you notice that this is just a first set prop. Confidence-5

2:45- Maccabi Tel Aviv: Don’t get fooled–this is basketball not soccer which is what Bayern Munich is so well-known for dominating.  Maccabi is the favorite and beat Bayern recently. Confidence-3

3:05- Benefica win: The Portuguese La Liga leaders traven to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.  AZ is currently in seventh place in the Dutch Eredivisie. Benfica is better when they’re in top form but giving the draw on the road in Europe is always a tough call. Confidence-3

3:05- Lyon Win or Draw: In one of the other Europa League quarters, Juventus travels to Lyon.  Lyon has earned at least a draw in four of their last six home matches in all competitions. Confidence-3 1/2

3:40- Arizona Diamondbacks: I like Bronson Arroyo as a spot start in fantasy baseball and don’t trust Tim Lincecum.  Timmy-Jim is always the big X-factor in the games he starts.  If he’s on, he can dominate, but Arizona doesn’t have much of a shot when he’s off his game. Confidence-4

7:00- Philadelphia Flyers: Phily has lost four of five but their last two games they took Boston and St Louis to shootouts before losing. Tonight, they host Columbus who has also played back-to-back overtime games splitting with Carolina and Colorado. The Blue Jackets have won just two of their last six games.  I’ll go with the Flyers since they’re on home ice, but they don’t inspire much confidence given their recent form. Confidence-3

Apr 1, 2014; Washington, DC, USA; Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen (32) celebrates with Stars defenseman Trevor Daley (6) after the Stars

7:00- Dallas Stars: The Stars are rolling to the playoffs having won five of six and scoring goals in bunches in their last few contests.  Carolina did upset the Penguins early this month to hand out a bunch of reds, but their playoff hopes are fading fast as the season winds down.  Confidence-5

7:03- SMU Mustangs: The NIT final is a showdown between the Mustangs and the Golden Gophers. SMU is favored by three coming off a nice win over Clemson in the semifinals while Minnesota needed dramatics in overtime to dispatch Florida State.  Coach Larry Brown of the Mustangs will be looking to add an NIT Championship to his NBA Championship and his NCAA tournament Championship. Confidence-4 1/2

7:10- Lucie Safarova: Safarova is a lot like Tim Lincecum in the earlier afternoon pick. If she’s locked in she’s almost unbeatable but other times she really struggles.  She leads the head-to-head with Stosur 8-2, so go against the rankings and take the Czech. Confidence-4

7:10- Tampa Bay Rays: Chris Archer got paid yesterday when he signed a contract extension with Tampa and he takes the hill against Brandon Morrow in tonight’s rubber game of the three-game season-opening series.  I’m way more confidence in Archer than Morrow and the Rays are at home, so I think they’ll get this one. Confidence-6

7:30- Boston Bruins: The Bruins are playing incredibly well, and even when they’re in Toronto playing for the second night in a row there’s no way to pick against them. Confidence-4

8:00- Oklahoma City Thunder: In this marquee Western Conference matchup, the Thunder who always dominate at home (31-7 this season) host the Spurs who have won 19 in a row and are playing incredibly efficiently.  The reason I’ll lean toward OKC is that the Spurs did just play last night and the Thunder have taken all three meetings between the teams this year. Confidence-3

8:00- Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pens blew a lot of early streaks this month getting beat badly at home by the Hurricanes. They’ll look to bounce back and clinch their division title as they travel to Winnipeg.  Pittsburgh has won 18 of the last 21 in this series dating back to before the Jets moved from Atlanta, so I think they’ll be able to get the win tonight. Confidence-5

8:10- New York Yankees: The Yankees season hasn’t gotten off to a good start in Texas as Houston has dealt them back-to-back defeats to start the year.  I think Ivan Nova gives them the best chance they’ve had yet as he takes on Aaron Oberholtzer tonight. Confidence-3 1/2

9:00- Colorado Avalanche: The Avs have won four in a row to stay one of the hottest teams in the NHL, so I’ll take them at home even against the Rangers who are also playing well coming down the stretch. Confidence-5 1/2

10:30- San Jose Sharks: The Sharks and Kings face off for the fifth time this season. LA has a 3-1 advantage but did play just last night against Phoenix while the Sharks last played Tuesday.  San Jose is 27-6-5 at home this season so I’ll take them to get the win at the SAP Center. Confidence-4
