The final film in The Hunger Games franchise will add another Game of Thrones star to its cast. After casting Natalie Dormer in late 2013, Lionsgate has reached out to Gwendoline Christie to play a key role in the final film. According to Variety, Christie will be replacing American Horror Story star Lily Rabe as Commander Lyme in the second half of the two part final film.
“Game of Thrones” actress Gwendoline Christie is replacing actress Lily Rabe as the Commander Lyme characters in Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.”
Rabe was forced drop out due to a scheduling conflict with a previous commitment to perform in “Much Ado about Nothing” at Shakespeare in the Park.
Christie is best known for her role on Game of Thrones where she plays the warrior Brienne of Tarth. Rabe had previously been cast in the role but had to drop out for a stage performance and that’s what brought about the replacement casting of Chrisite.
The final film, which is technically one book split up over two films, will tell the epic conclusion to The Hunger Games saga that began a few years ago. After hitting it big with Game of Thrones, Christie will solidify her notoriety among fanboys and fangirls after nothing yet another massive series on her acting belt.
