The Cleveland Browns are said to be very interested in the quarterback crop for this year’s NFL Draft. Although they inexplicably missed the infamous Johnny Manziel Pro Day last week, they claim to be very much in play for a QB, and on Friday, they had a private workout with one of the fast risers, Eastern Illinois’ Jimmy Garoppolo, according to Cleveland.com.
The Browns’ pre-draft quarterback tour took them to Eastern Illinois Friday for a private workout with Jimmy Garoppolo, who’s projected as a late first-rounder or early second-round pick, sources told cleveland.com.
Garoppolo took advantage of an open roster spot on the Senior Bowl team, and he capitalized on that by wowing many of the scouts in attendance. He followed that up with a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine in April, boosting his stock even further.
While some do have Garoppolo projected for the late first round, if they choose to take Sammy Watkins with their fourth overall pick like is expected, they could wait to take Garoppolo in the second round where he will more than likely still be sitting.
