It was recently announced that David Letterman would be leaving his post as host of the Late Show on CBS. While it hasn’t been long since Letterman announced he would be ending his 33-year run in late-night television, it appears that CBS already has a man tabbed to become the replacement.
According to reports, the favorite to land the new Late Show hosting gig is none other than Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert of the Colbert Report.
While the rumors are swirling, a CBS spokesman told Mashable: “We’re not commenting on any rumors or speculation about succession.
Comedy Central also declined comment.
It will be interesting to see who CBS tabs as the replacement for Letterman, but if Colbert does turn out to be the replacement then it will certainly be a polarizing choice.
Letterman will not be stepping down for another year, so there will be plenty of time for the speculation to continue to swirl.
