This past week, it was confirmed that Stone Cold Steve Austin would indeed be in attendance this Sunday for WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans. This announcement came right on the heels of Austin stating that he believes we will see the return of CM Punk at the event on Sunday earlier this week.
Now, WrestleZone.com is reporting that the company has actually pitched an angle idea to both men to take place on Sunday that would see the beginning of the build to a potential WrestleMania 31 showdown with the two men next year.
WZ has learned from WWE sources that a segment was apparently pitched to Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk for WrestleMania 30.
The segment was based around its ending, which would have seen Austin giving Punk a stunner, to set up a match at WrestleMania 31.
Punk left the company the day after the Royal Rumble, apparently over an issue with the creative direction for this year’s ‘Mania. More specifically, he wasn’t happy with having to face HHH.
But this match? This would be a different story. Fans, plus Punk and Austin themselves, have been wanting this match for years, and we could finally see the beginning of one of the greatest feuds ever on Sunday.
