2014 Final Four National Championship Game betting odds: Kentucky opens as 2.5 point favorite over UConn

After the events of the Final Four on Saturday, it’s been decided on the court that the Kentucky Wildcats will face off with the UConn Huskies on Monday night in Arlington for the national championship. And right off the bat, Las Vegas has decided that the five freshmen are the opening favorite over the Huskies by 2.5 points.

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise really, seeing what this Kentucky team has accomplished to this point in the tournament. They’ve defeated three of last year’s Final Four participants, including and undefeated Wichita State team and the rival Louisville Cardinals.

But, this will be a different animal that they’ll be up against on Monday in UConn. The Huskies play the game faster than any team Kentucky has seen to this point, so they’ll need to make some critical adjustments between now and Monday.

But for now, they are the favorites.

Las Vegas doesn’t “decide” a betting line. The betting book defines the betting line. Vegas computer models show this game a tossup. But, there’s more money going on Kentucky and that has swung the line. How people can bet against the team that beat what experts say was the best team in the country (Florida), and who beat what experts say was the best team in the tournament (Michigan St.) is beyond me. The Connecticut defense is now a steel curtain that Kentucky is going to beat their heads against Monday night. Connecticut wins easily.
