The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been hot on the recruiting trail as of late.
They landed another verbal commitment when 3-star safety Nicco Fertitta committed to the Fighting Irish on Saturday night.
Fertitta committed on an unofficial visit to South Bend, Indiana this weekend.
“It definitely held up to its name,” Fertitta told Ray Brewer of The Las Vegas Sun. “When you walk into that locker room, it’s amazing. You absolutely get (the tradition).”
“The (Notre Dame) coaches said they want someone physical like me,” Fertitta explained.
The 5’9, 160-pounder attends Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
Fertitta is ranked as the 60th best safety prospect, the fourth best overall prospect in the state of Nevada and the 817th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
He chose the Irish over offers from the Arizona Wildcats, Boston College Eagles Hawaii Warriors and San Diego State Aztecs, among others.
He becomes the Fighting Irish’s sixth verbal commitment for the class of 2015.
