Angels' Jered Weaver allows 4 Astros HRs

One of the things that the Los Angeles Angels were counting on this season was the continued excellence of their top two starters, Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson. Today, against the Houston Astros, the Angels’ ace just did not have it.

In 5.2 innings, Weaver allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits while throwing 100 pitches, 62% for strikes. He struck out six, but the problem for Weaver was that he allowed 4 home runs to Houston. Weaver also had problems against Seattle in his season debut, allowing 3 earned runs over 6.1 innings then.

The Houston homers came from Jason Castro, a two-run shot, and three solo homers from Matt Dominguez, Jesus Guzman, and Alex Presley. The game, as of 4:42 EST, is still going on, but it looks like Weaver is about to drop to 0-2 on the season as the Angels could drop to 2-4.
