Hopefully the fantasy baseball season got off to a good start for you this week, and now it’s time to get your team prepped for another week of domination.  No matter how your first week went, if you need starting pitching help, Monday offers some nice starting pitching option available on the waiver wire.

All of Monday’s starters are scheduled for two-start weeks which makes them extremely valuable both as a “hold” option through the week or if your league locks rosters for the whole week on Monday. They also make nice streaming or spot start options if you’re looking for a more short-term solution.

All of my selections are available in at least half of ESPN leagues and their ownership percentage is included in parentheses. Check back each afternoon for the next days pickups, and if you have any questions, you can find me on twitter @ZT_Sports or drop a comment in the box at the bottom of the page. Here are my picks for Monday the start of week 2:

Scott Kazmir-Oakland Athletics (39.5%)

Kazmir has been one of the hottest pitching pickup of opening week after a great first start against the Indians in Oakland.  He’s getting grabbed in leagues quickly, but he’s the best option for Monday if you can still get him.

On Wednesday, he held the Indians to just three hits and no runs while going 7.1 innings.  He didn’t walk anyone and struck out five getting his Oakland career off to a great start.  This week he starts with a nice matchup against the Twins in Minnesota.  Last season when Kazmir was with the Indians, Kazmer went 3-0 in five starts against Minnesota with a 1.45 ERA. He’s definitely the top option if you can get him to start the week.
