Khalil Mack wore No. 46 because of his rating on NCAA Football video game

Former Buffalo Bulls outside linebacker Khalil Mack is expected to be one of the first handful of players selected in next month’s draft, but few envisioned that type of future for Mack entering college with Liberty the only other school to offer him out of high school.

College coaches weren’t very receptive to Mack and neither were the people at EA Sports who gave Mack a 46 overall rating in their popular NCAA Football video game. That 46 rating is the reason why Mack wore that on his jersey, according to Fox Sports’ Peter Schrager.

Players will use whatever they can do use for motivation, but a having a low ranking on a video game is the first to my knowledge. Mack has been referred to some, including NFL media analyst Mike Mayock as the best player in this year’s draft and I think his rating on Madden will awfully higher than his NCAA Football rating.
