The New York Knicks playoff hopes are on life support after a devastating loss to the Miami Heat Sunday afternoon, especially given the current status of Carmelo Anthony.
The All-Star forward injured his shoulder earlier this week but decided to play through the pain on Sunday given what was at stake. It may have proven to be rather costly as Anthony said after the tilt that the arm felt ‘dead’.
Melo also said he arm felt dead, more numbness than pain.
That’s obviously not a good sign, though hopefully rest will be the best option as Melo obviously doesn’t want to go under the knife – especially in what is likely to be a free agent year assuming he opts out of the final year of his contract.
If there’s any silver lining, the Knicks do not play again until Friday so Anthony will have a handful of days to rest his arm. But a healthy Melo may be too late for the Knicks as the Atlanta Hawks inch closer to securing the Eastern Conference’s eighth seed.
