Yasiel Puig not in lineup for Sunday Night Baseball against San Francisco Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers will attempt to avoid a sweep at the hands of their arch rivals on Sunday evening and they’ll be forced to do it without young phenom Yasiel Puig.

The outfielder appeared to jam his hand on a (needless) slide Saturday afternoon and will miss his second game in three days, the first of which came via a benching from the Los Angeles Dodgers for being tardy.

Puig not in the #Dodgers lineup. Butera catching.

Sunday games are often used as ‘rest’ days for a lot of Major League teams and given the Dodgers logjam in the outfield, there normally wouldn’t be much to the fact that Puig was being kept out of the lineup. However for a national game in the evening, one would assume the Dodgers would likely run out their A-team if they could.

Results of Puig’s X-ray’s have yet to be made public, so it’s not known if Puig’s absence from the lineup card is simply just a day off or related to injury (or even something else).

Update: X-ray results have come back negative.
