Athletics' Jed Lowrie left game vs Twins, listed as day-to-day

The Oakland Athletics opened up a nine game road trip today against the Minnesota Twins, and currently have a solid lead late in the game.

Athletics’ shortstop Jed Lowrie ended up leaving today’s three game series opener after being hit by a pitch on his right foot according to Jane Lane on Twitter.

Jane Lee also reports that Lowrie suffered a right lower leg contusion and has been listed as day-to-day.

X-rays were not required, so that has to be good news for the defending American League West champions. Minnesota and Oakland will have a day off tomorrow, so this will give Lowrie a day to get himself together and get himself into the starting lineup on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s game has the first pitch scheduled for 12:10 p.m.
