With just two goals since the Olympic break, Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane was a healthy scratch for his team’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The Jets won the game 4-2, effectively ending Toronto’s chances at making the playoffs for the second straight season.
After Monday morning’s morning skate, Kane talked with reporters, and was asked about being a healthy scratch against Toronto.
He was then asked if he wanted a trade out of Winnipeg.
Kane did tell reporters that he expects to be back in the lineup tonight when the Jets host the Minnesota Wild. However, with his lack of production this season, countless healthy visits to the press box and a $5.25 million cap hit over the next four seasons, talk regarding a potential deal out of Winnipeg will only intensify once the offseason arrives.
