The New York Yankees got a little nostalgic prior to their 2014 home opener this afternoon as they honored their “Core 4″ of Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada and Derek Jeter in a pregame ceremony.
Here is the video of the four being introduced courtesy of MLB.com with Pettitte and Rivera throwing out the ceremonial first pitches to Posada and Jeter.
This foursome won five World Series rings together and are all bound for Cooperstown and the MLB Hall of Fame when it’s time for them to be included on the ballot.
The only thing that could have made this moment even sweeter is if Bernie Williams was a part of the ceremony as he was every bit as instrumental to the success of the Yankees during their decade of dominance.
Still, this was a very special moment for the “Core 4″ and for the thousands in attendance at Yankee Stadium today and for the millions watching at home.
