New York Yankees misspell Jacoby Ellsbury's name in home opener (Photo)

Jacoby Ellsbury made his home debut for the New York Yankees earlier today after spending the first seven years of his MLB career with the rival Boston Red Sox, so maybe there was a little leftover animosity when the team spelled his name incorrectly on the jumbotron.

Okay, I’m sure it was just a case of typing too fast–we’ve all been there before–rather than some leftover animosity for once being a Red Sox, but it does make for a funny little footnote as the Yankees $153 million dollar man introduced himself to his new home crowd.

Ellsbury didn’t reach base in his fourth time to the plate after the photo above messed up the spelling of his name, so I’m sure it’ll be correct next time, but he did go 2-4 on the afternoon in the Yanks 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
