Toronto Raptors’ Jonas Valanciunas arrested for DUI
Toronto Raptors’ big man Jonas Valanciunas is in the middle of an excellent season.
He is averaging 11.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while helping the the Raptors to a 45-32 record, currently good enough for first place in the Atlantic Division and the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
On Monday, a report surfaced that Valanciunas had been arrested for driving under the influence.
The Raptors have confirmed the arrest and released a statement.
“We were made aware this morning of the incident involving Jonas Valanciunas and are disappointed he has put himself in this situation. We take this matter very seriously as we have the highest expectations for all members of our organization.”
Valanciunas has released a statement of his own via Megan Robinson of FAN590 in Toronto.
Valanciunas probably won’t miss a playoff game, but this is still an embarrassing situation.
