UConn's Shabazz Napier says he goes to bed hungry some nights, talks about paying college players

Whether college athletes should get paid for playing while their universities make millions off of them is a hot topic, especially with the developments out of Northwestern. There is a report from CNN that legislators in Connecticut are considering ways to allow athletes at UConn to unionize.

“He says he’s going to bed hungry at a time when millions of dollars are being made off of him. It’s obscene,” State Rep. Matthew Lesser said. “This isn’t a Connecticut problem. This is an NCAA problem, and I want to make sure we’re putting pressure on them to treat athletes well.”

The CNN brought back to light some of the comments Napier made about going to bed hungry.

“I don’t feel student-athletes should get hundreds of thousands of dollars, but like I said, there are hungry nights that I go to bed and I’m starving,” Napier said.

The comments were made in late March but they still carry weight ahead of the National Championship game tonight. If you want to see the comments, you can watch the video below.
