Lockers and numbers mean a lot to baseball players, and David Robertson has taken another step towards doing his best to fill Mariano Rivera’s void in the clubhouse.
Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News and several other Yankees’ writers are gathered in the Yankees’ clubhouse before the home opener game today and have reported that Robertson now occupies the locker once owned by Rivera.
Robertson, who wears number 30, has already converted two save opportunities for New York, allowing no runs and one hit in three innings so far in 2014. The writers also reported that Carlos Beltran has Robinson Cano’s old locker.
