Amanda Nunes injured; out of bout with Sarah Kaufman

As Sarah Kaufman entered the final stages of her training camp for an upcoming fight at the TUF Nations Finale on Wednesday, April 16 at the Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, she has been wondering who her opponent would be.

Kaufman was initially scheduled to face off against mixed martial arts veteran Shayna Baszler at the event, before the TUF 18 cast member was forced out of the bout with an injury.

Amanda Nunes was named as Baszler’s replacement shortly after news of her withdrawal surfaced, but now Nunes has also suffered an injury that has forced her out of the bout and Kaufman is once again left without an opponent.

The news was confirmed by

Nunes reportedly suffered a dislocated thumb during a grappling session on Tuesday and she will not be healthy enough for the bout.

The UFC has yet to comment on Nunes’ injury, so we will have to await official word from UFC officials to see whether or not they will seek another late replacement for Kaufman or if they will just pull her from the event.
