Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is leaving at the end of the season to join domestic rivals Bayern Munich. While searching for a contract in the transfer window Lewandowski entertained the thought of joining Real Madrid, Dortmund’s Champions League quarterfinals opponent on Tuesday, and acknowledged having met with Real present Florentino Perez.
“The only thing I can say is that Florentino spoke with me,” Lewandowski told a pre-match press conference, via Sky Sports.
“It was a very brief conversation, it’s the only thing I can say about the meeting with the president of Real Madrid.”
He didn’t say when the talks happened, they likely occurred during the January transfer window and after Madrid signed Gareth Bale. That would’ve been an incredible front alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
For now Lewandowski is just trying to recapture some of his magic from last year’s Champions League match up to try and get Dortmund into the finals and over a 3-0 deficit in the aggregate to the semi-finals.
