A.J. Ellis out 4-6 weeks for Dodgers

In an update from a story from earlier, A.J. Ellis underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reports that Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the 20-minute operation on the Dodgers’ backstop, and the original prognosis of a 4-6 week recovery period is accurate.

Ellis’ replacement on the 25-man roster has not been announced, but it is expected to be Tim Federowicz, with Drew Butera as the primary catcher.
