MLB Rumors: Tampa Bay Rays likely to place Matt Moore on disabled list

The Tampa Bay Rays are leaning towards placing pitcher Matt Moore on the disabled list, this after the young arm suffered an injury during his start on Monday night against the Kansas City Royals.

In the fifth inning, Moore went back to complete a pitch and could be seen clutching for his elbow region and grimacing in pain. Trainers rushed to his aid and Moore attempted to convince them that he was ready to go and could continue to pitch, but they nor manager Joe Maddon were buying the argument and removed the 25-year-old from the game.

No update on #Rays Moore yet but hearing Beliveau is on way from Durham to add arm to bullpen, so DL at least for Moore

We still don’t have any official word for Moore, though, there’s understandable concern any time a pitcher suffers an injury like Moore did. Obviously hinting at any injury would be nothing more than speculation, but you hope the worst of this is only a disabled list trip and nothing more.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update any injury news as it comes in.
