Nathan Fillion Teases Appearance in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

As if Marvel’s newest film property Guardians of the Galaxy wasn’t already one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, I think the film may have just picked up a little extra excitement from sci-fi fans. Last weekend, at St. Louis Comic Con, fans were treated to what was either a pretty big announcement, or one of the biggest teases in the entire sci-fi world.

The event, which was put on by Wizard World, hosted a Firefly reunion panel where stars like Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, and Adam Baldwin sat down with fans to discuss the show, things that happened while filming, and reliving some of their time on one of the biggest cult sci-fi shows of all time.

During the panel, he is asked by a fan if he desired to get a part in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film based on his previous affiliations with James Gunn, who both wrote the screenplay for the film as well as behind the camera in the director’s chair. Fillion’s answer may not have been the one that the fan was expecting.

“Wanting to get a part? Or maybe…did.” He replied. “I’m just saying maybe. Maybe you’ll be surprised. Maybe, check the credits.”

Here is a look at the Firefly panel from the St. Louis Comic Con. While the entire 40+ minute clip is pretty engaging if you were a fan of the series, the question in reference was made at about the 38:45 mark.

Now, this could be nothing more than an attempt to get fans all riled up, which obviously worked. On the other hand, it could be a pretty big announcement. Given the fact that he told the fan to check the credits may indicate that he has one of those “blink and you miss it” type of roles in the film.

Fortunately, it won’t be too long before the truth is ultimately unveiled.

What would you think if Nathan Fillion really is cast in the new Guardians of the Galaxy film? Where do you think he would fit in the scheme of things? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled to be released in RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, and Conventional Theaters on August 1, 2014.
