NBA rumors: Joe Dumars to resign as Pistons general manager

Detroit Pistons general manager Joe Dumars is the longest tenured man at his position in the NBA, but it looks like his time filling that role could be coming to an end. According to rumors circulating around the league, Dumars plans to step down from his role with the Pistons and he may not wait for the conclusion of the NBA regular season to do so.

From Vincent Goodwill of The Detroit News:

Dumars has told multiple sources within the NBA that he plans to resign — possibly as soon as this week

After initially building an impressive team that reached six straight conference finals and won the NBA championship in 2004, but it has been all downhill since then.

Dumars has watched the Pistons fall near the bottom of the league thanks to some questionable offseason moves and signings and now it appears that he will be leaving on his own terms before the team has their say.
