Seemingly since the day Mike D’Antoni took over as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, he has been on the hot seat.
There have been rumors of Phil Jackson and John Calipari taking over. Jackson has obviously taken a job with the New York Knicks and Calipari tried to shoot down rumors on Monday.
The Lakers are reportedly leaning towards bringing D’Antoni back next season and D’Antoni hopes that is what winds up happening.
“Hey look, this is a great place,” D’Antoni told Sam Amick of The USA Today. “Any player who has a destination of L.A. – it’s pretty good. I’ve been lucky to be here. I don’t want to say, ‘Oh yeah (I’ll be back),’ but I don’t know. And I’m sure that everybody is going to have to sit down and figure it out.
“I think the franchise will have a way that they want to get to the best, to the top, and you go with it. And if I’m included in that, great. That’s how it goes.”
D’Antoni’s Lakers are just 25-52 this season.
