Pablo Sandoval, Giants 'far apart' in extension talks

Pablo Sandoval, who is just over a year removed from being named World Series MVP, is currently in talks for a contract extension. However, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, the third baseman and the San Francisco Giants are “far apart” in their talks.

Sandoval is hoping for a five-year deal, while the Giants are not fond of the lengthy extension.

The most likely scenario for both sides is that the Giants allow the season to play out before deciding whether or not Sandoval can stay committed to being in shape.

If Sandoval can show he is still dedicated to his fitness and perform at a high level, he could convince the team that he is worthy of the five-year deal he is currently seeking.
