While the weather temperatures in Minnesota might still be on the cool side, they’re not so cool on the field as during the tenth inning of Wednesday’s afternoon tilt between the Oakland Athletics and Minnesota Twins, benches from both sides cleared as players began barking at each other.

The source of the issue is unknown, though after Twins reliever Glen Perkins struck out Oakland A’s third baseman Josh Donaldson, the two began chirping.

Perkins appeared to be staring in at Donaldson and potentially mouthing something to him, which caught the attention of Donaldson who immediately seemed ready to throw down. Perkins continued on his way towards the dugout as Donaldson moved closer to the reliever before the Twins bench stopped the two from coming into contact.

Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and the game continued on without any ejections or fights – at least as we speak considering the game is currently being played.

Not sure what lit that fuse, but it certainly blew quickly.
